About
our Dance Lessons
We
always welcome new members to our classes through out the year,
no matter
if you’re a complete beginner or an experienced
dancer. Our classes consist of 2 levels of varying difficulty:
Level I (Beginner/New), and Level II (Beginner II). We offer 5 types of dances:
Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, Cha-Cha, and Bachata.
The structure of our lessons is:
- Isolation
Stretches
- Warm-up
- Dance Drills
- Partnering
- Practice Session
At
the end of each class you will be able to practice what you've
learned, without
the help of the teacher. Even after one lesson,
you should have a good idea of what Latin dance is all about.
The levels progress in their grades of difficulty and technique,
but each transition into the next level is attended to in a smooth
manner. Occasionally we do throw in surprises, just to keep you
on your toes. But that’s what makes it fun!
Our
instructors are professionally trained dancers with Puerto
Rican and New York
styles of Salsa that are so popular all around
the world. This unique and beautiful style is being introduced
to you by “The Mambo Man”.
Dancing
is not only about looking good on the dance floor; it’s
about connecting with your dance partner while enjoying the flavorful
and energetic rhythms of the music.
A skilled dancer executing a simple move, looks better, feels
better, and has more fun then a dancer with bad form attempting
a complex move. Therefore, in our classes, we put a great deal
of emphasis on proper form and execution of each move. Our students
learn the techniques of proper hip movement (very important in
most Latin dances), weight transfer, and proper posture. Men
learn how to lead a lady with skill and confidence and ladies
learn how to react / respond to their partner's lead which makes
his job easier.
Our
Latin dance classes can be thought of as a membership to the
gym. Our students
usually sweat and get a full body workout
during class. This hard work really pays off on the dance floor
as our students have found out.
Making the effort to learn proper technique by building a solid
dance foundation will pay off in the future, because other popular
Latin dances like Cha-Cha, Bachata, or Samba, will be much easier
to learn.
